Can Tata lure a CEO candidate from outside?
India’s biggest conglomerate, Tata Group, ousted CEO Cyrus Mistry in late October after less than four years. Many of the executives he hired are out as well. The split was not amicable, with the board of directors sidestepping the decorum of giving Mistry the option to step down. The group’s patriarch, Ratan Tata, has taken over as interim CEO, confirming suspicions in some minds that Mistry was never really in charge.
